i have look at over 30 websites and as of yet not one has told me how to build a gas portible fire pit. everyone has sent me to sights that will sell me one, $1,300.00. thats a lot of wood. from what i have seen most of these gas pits could be built for less that 200.00. the thing i am not sure of is what reglator, and what to use as a buner?

Chiminea is better then a fire pit in my opinion because of aesthetics and that strong cast aluminum hide that lasts for years. I personally am a fireplace buff and own a butterly motif chiminea. if you are in the market for one you can get them tiny like a table top stove, use them as candle holders, or get a tomulti-hundred pound behemoth. I actually have one of each.

Very good advice!
My father gave us a clay chiminea about eight years ago; I thought I'd seasoned it correctly with small fires in the beginning, but I must not have done enough of them. It did suffer thermal shock, cracked down one side. We repaired that with a fireplace sealant, but over time, the cracking continued until the neck broke off.

I thought I could fix that, but when I tried, the entire thing fell apart. Our recent very cold winter may have finished the clay off...
